Site Characterisation and Survey Support
We help you optimise your geotechnical site investigation campaign.
We help clients get the best value from geotechnical site investigations by optimising investigation locations and laboratory testing schedules around the actual needs of downstream design, installation analysis and certification. Our team’s involvement in the development of industry-standard foundation design methods, including PISA for monopiles and ISO unified approach for axially loaded piles, gives us a deep understanding of what data is genuinely needed, helping clients avoid over-specification, reduce cost and programme risk, while maintaining a robust basis for design and installation decisions.
- Survey strategy
- GI scoping and specification
- Tender evaluation
- QA of GI and lab testing
- Ground model review
- Design Basis and GIR development

Foundation Design and Installation Analysis
We provide specialist foundation engineering for challenging ground conditions.
We provide specialist foundation design for challenging ground conditions across offshore wind, energy and infrastructure projects. Our experience covers monopiles, jacket piles, suction caissons and gravity-based structures, helping clients select and design the most appropriate foundation option for each project.
Our team brings deep insight into state-of-practice design methods, including PISA for monopiles and ISO unified approaches for axial pile design, and is actively developing enhanced prediction models for foundation response during installation. We support challenging installation scenarios including impact driving in hard ground or weak rock, vibro-installation and jetting-assisted techniques, helping clients characterise risks early, plan mitigations and avoid costly surprises during construction. We also support foundation life extension and decommissioning assessments, drawing on a deep understanding of ageing effects and emerging methods for safe and effective removal.
- Monopiles
- Jacket piles
- Suction caissons
- Gravity-based structures
- Pile driveability, including impact, vibro, and jetting
- Mudmat and spudcan assessment
- Scour protection
- Life extension and decommissioning

Port Studies
We unlock optimisation value in port designs.
For developers, we provide independent engineering review and fit-for-purpose assessment of port infrastructure, including quay wall strength checks and bearing capacity assessment, to confirm whether the infrastructure can support major components such as foundations, towers and floating platforms.
For port owners, we support design optimisation of quay walls and waterfront structures using advanced modelling and dedicated testing programmes. Our team’s experience has helped clients unlock major cost savings through design optimisation, reducing programme risk and delivering significant reductions in embodied carbon.
- Port suitability screening and selection
- Port owner technical support and due diligence
- Design optimisation

Owner’s Engineer and Expert Opinion
We help you make better technical decisions early.
We support client management teams with independent technical advice from early project development through design, procurement and delivery. We help clients set clear Employer’s Requirements, ensure these are carried through technical submissions, and manage project exposure where geotechnical conditions drive cost and programme risks.
We also provide forensic review, expert opinion and expert witness support for disputes arising from geotechnical issues affecting foundations, cables and other balance-of-plant infrastructure.
